The Institute of Career Education offers training opportunities for post-secondary students who are seeking technical career training in order to prepare to enter the workforce.

The Institute of Career Education office hours are Monday through Friday (excluding legal holidays), 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.

MISSION

To prepare students through both classroom and clinical training opportunities to attain industry-recognized certifications for high-need, high-skilled careers based on local labor market needs.

Medical Assistant

This two-semester course offers students complete training to become a Medical Assistant.

The Administrative (front office) training includes skills such as communication, billing, making appointments, medical terminology, and understanding the legal obligations of medical professionals. Students will upgrade their business skills including keyboarding, math, English, business writing, office procedures, employment skills, and computer skills.

The Clinical (back office) training includes anatomy, physiology, rooming patients, injections, and assisting the medical provider.

The next course starts August 25, 2021, through May 25, 2022.

Applications will be available from April 26, 2021, and due by June 4, 2021

Cost: $4,500 (subject to change) cost includes textbooks and supplies, drug screen, and background check. Additional fees required for the national exam as well as state certification fees (fees vary).

Dental Assistant

If a career in health care appeals to you, then consider dental assisting. Dental assistants take on significant responsibility as valuable members of the dental health care team. Assistants greatly increase the efficiency of the dentist in the delivery of quality oral health care. If you have strong communication skills, enjoy working with your hands, as well as your mind, and want a career with responsibility, dental assisting is for you.

The next course starts August 24, 2021, through December 21, 2021

Applications will be available from April 26, 2021, and due by June 4, 2021

Cost: $4,000 (subject to change) cost includes classroom supplies, CPR certification, and background check. Additional fees may vary for testing and scrubs.

Phlebotomy

Phlebotomy students will learn to draw blood specimens from patients as requested by hospitals and referring physicians. This class will prepare students to meet the California state criteria for certification as a CPT I.
